Bob Williams has been in the Insurance Industry in Mississippi for over 30 years. He began his career at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi in 1989 and was serving as Vice-President and Corporate Secretary in 2009 when he left to pursue a career in Government Programs with UnitedHealthcare. He was instrumental in launching the MississippiCAN program for UnitedHealthcare.
As the Director of the Life and Health Actuarial Division, Bob works directly with Department actuaries as well as industry representatives to guarantee compliance with Mississippi and Federal statutes and regulations. Furthermore, Bob serves as counsel and advocate for the Commissioner of Insurance. As Division Director, he oversees the Department’s efforts to implement and enforce the new regulations and guidelines for insurance market reforms associated with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010.
Bob is a graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Law. He has served as Chairman of the Madison County Economic Development Board as well as Chairman of the Madison County Business League. He is presently serving as the Senior Warden at The Chapel of the Cross in Madison, Mississippi. He is also serving as Chairman of the Ole Miss Insurance Advisory Board. Bob is married to Laurie Rosenbaum Williams who is a praticing attorney in Jackson.
The Life and Health Actuarial Division is responsible for receiving and analyzing all individual/group forms and rates for annuities, accident and health insurance, long term care insurance, disability insurance, Medicare supplement insurance, life insurance and credit life insurance sold by licensed insurance companies in the State. This ensures that the forms for the aforementioned products are fair and reasonable and that the premium rates are calculated in accordance with State law.
